kicking the knitting habit

today i made my first non-knitting craft project since novemeber! {although i did check out a couple knitting books at the library}
i finally made myself a jewelry organizer. my sister-in-law and i made one for her {tutorial here!}, but i haven't felt the need to make my own until recently. i don't have a ton of jewels- just enough to start getting messy.

my bathroom counter:

cooped-up in the english pub ash-tray that husband's grandpa gave him. things get tangled.

 side note: this is the glass frog votive i've had since sixth grade that holds husband's wedding ring:

my bathroom wall:

 i found a beat-up-price-reduced frame at hobby lobby and painted it green {to match our other bathroom decor} i added the black ribbon to disguise a few major gashes, and hung with grosgrain ribbon. i like it. although the black doesn't exactly fit the color scheme, but i was working with what i have. and i'm really trying not to let the fact that one necklace in particular is just way too long. sister-in-law would never allow this to happen to her...

 and since it's already out, i thought i'd show you one of my favorite christmas gifts: this cutie from my bestie {she has one, too!}
i wear it most days :)

although husband is always awed {thrilled, impressed, pleased...you get the idea} with all of my many {and messy} projects {he's so supportive}, he really thinks i should add some of these to my shop.
opinions? i'd love to hear what you think!

frog collection: vintage edition

just a couple weeks ago i "showed off" my little frog collection. and now it's time to show you my biggest {and most favoritest} one!

the vintage frog pitcher:

i got it over 10 years ago {a christmas gift from mom}

i''m really quite taken with it. how many people do you know with crazy awesome animal pitchers?!

and then a couple years later, i got the rest of the set...
{how cute is this little guy?}

i love the colors. and the whole lilly pad thing.

hubby thinks they're kitschy, but of course i don't see anything wrong with that! so the pitcher is out on display, the sugar bowl is in use on the counter, and the mugs are all in the cabinet.
so, i think this concludes my collection. i'm sure i've got a few other frogs floating around somewhere, but nothing else worth showing.

frog collection: miniature edition

i've mentioned a couple times that i collect frogs {mainly vintage frogs} it's something i've done since i was a little kid. and now i'm finally getting around to showing off my little nerdy collection. these are just the small ones, stashed all over my apartment. {i may have missed a few...}
large to small
vintage ceramic frog- this year's birthday present from mom

silver pin- birthday present from mom, way back in high school

 definitely the prettiest {although it's tarnished right now}
it's on display when i'm not wearing it

hand-carved wooden frog- christmas present from a childhood friend, way back in middle school. i don't know how i've kept this tiny guy for over 10 years, but i love his red tongue

  hand-crafted silver charm- bought by me from a bazaar in santa fe, way back in high school

one of my all-time favorites. he plays the violin! and i just love all the detailing

silver used-to-be-an-earring tiny frog. i have his brother floating around here too, but he still has the post attached. i wore these everyday my sophomore year of high school

and all together, for a little size reference
i've had more over the years, but i only keep the ones i truly adore.

i feel like i just let my dork out a little. do you collect anything? or am i all alone here...

mail surprise!

i checked the mail yesterday and was surprised by this package, from who else but my bestie! i have never run up the stairs to open something so fast in my life.

and of course, what is a best friend for but to indulge your weird obsession with vintage frogs {especially in mug form!}
i love it- so much character :)
{remind me some time to show you the rest of my froggy collection}

topped off with these goodies:
oh sarah, you're the best!
