reasons to love manhattan #2

kstate football!
saturday i attended my first wildcat football game. {and sadly my last, because football games are outrageously long and my system can't handle being outdoors for more than 15 minutes. literally}
but, besides the sneezing and watery eyes, it was awesome!

 {our favorite player, #8 daniel thomas}

 i may have mentioned it before, but wildcat pride is pretty fierce here, so you can imagine the crazy excited energy going on in that stadium.

so even after the game was delayed for over an hour because of lighting and heavy rain {which we waited out in the stadium} it was full by the time play resumed.
{during the rain}

{and after. completely packed!}

i think you should all come visit so i can take you to a game and you can experience thousands of people doing the wabash cannonball {our unofficial school song}
{and oh yeah, we won! we're 0-4!}

reasons to love manhattan #1

wildcat pride!
it's football season! and to celebrate, last weekend the city kicked off with "purple power play on poyntz" the annual street festival held in historic downtown {on poyntz street}

and we painted the town purple.
more accurately, more purple than it already was.
and this weekend we did it all over again for the annual band march.

 there's always something for a wildcat to do around town, and i'm trying to soak up as much spirit in our last year here as possible!

my new favorite crafting supply

old library catalog cards.

i found them on a recent visit to the k-state library {with hubby} and they have them in stacks all over the place, to use as scrap paper.
 a charming idea.
i just haven't been able to resist sticking them on anything and everything. so if you're getting something from me in the mail anytime soon, you'll be sure to see these babies making an appearance!

{and ps- my birthday is tomorrow {yay!} and i'm planning an april fool's day party for the kids at school and i'm super excited about it. i'll be sure to share all the details soon!}

beat 'em up! beat 'em up! ksu!

in a town that could never be accused of lack of pride- where an opportunity to plaster something {anything!} with the power cat is never passed by, there still somehow seems to be an explosion of purple here lately.

march madness has hit us, and it's hit us hard!

last night's game against xavier was amazing. the town literally went nuts {i'm using the word "literally" here literally} as soon as we won, people opened their doors and screamed, college students were running around campus in hoards, aggieville went nuts, and fireworks lit up the sky. it was a ruckus to be heard around the whole city of manhattan.

and then today npr pronounced the game "the best in the tournament"

yes my friends, it's good to be a wildcat <3

weekend update III (finally)

finally, the photos from last saturday!

it got very cold so we all donned our coats and hats for the day:

josh took them on a tour of the campus while i worked for a couple hours.

we then spent the evening in aggieville at the 8th annual chili crawl. (we barely got tickets!) you take your ticket to 10 different bars and restaurants and get a small bowl of chili at each location and then go to coldstone for dessert.

we decided to rate each location, so we came prepared with our own score cards:

this was not one of our favorite places:

while jon and josh were busy watching the michigan game, alicia and i ended the evening by stealing josh's keys and decorating his office.

yes, that is "the hulk" wrapping paper on his bulletin board (and maze and blue streamers hanging on his bookshelf and desk) i think he got a kick out of it when he found it on sunday :)

weekend stories part II

here's how we spent the rest of our friday:

maiden voyage of the moped!

i was really trying hard to start it here:
alicia had much more luck:

sight-seeing and shopping around the city

aggieville shops:

that's right, is super mrsa!
a toy store downtown sells stuffed germs and diseases.
awesome.

stopped by sonic for happy hour ("happy time")
and walked around downtown

one store had a sign that said,
"unattended children will be given espresso, lots of sugar, a new puppy and then returned to their parents"

and the city goes crazy!

a seriously stressful day today, but we're making it through (although josh's day is much more stressful than mine has been)

you can tell it's the first day of class and all the students are back. it is frantic here! it's nuts! everywhere! the bank! the stores! the street! the campus! the students!

we almost got hit by a truck trying to blow through a light. good thing i was watching. thank goodness the first day of class only happens once a year...

goodbyes and pictures

well, our goodbyes are all over and we are all alone in kansas! matt and sarah left monday morning and i have been busy keeping myself busy since then. lots of unpacking and getting to know the city. and oh yeah, getting a job! it's not terribly exciting, i'll be working at target, but it is a job and i am very thankful for that.

since i'm trying to keep a good blog i'm posting pictures today! yay!

the old field house on campus at ksu. it's beautiful. i'll have to add more pics from inside later because it's really very cool.

this is a picture of the library. but only one side. it's huge!

josh looking out on his new campus. this is also from the side of the library.

i had to include this picture from my goodbye party at work. it was a lot of fun! but i cried for hours when i had to leave and say my real goodbyes.

so, i hope you've enjoyed the pictures! i will be posting more this week, and try to get some good shots of the apartment so everyone can see that as well.
