la boheme

we moved all the way out here {manhattan kansas} so that my husband could follow his dream- which led him to school.
and will lead him to another school after this.
but i'm not wasting my time here, either- i found a job i love, opened my etsy and am pursuing my suzuki certifications {teaching the violin is my passion}

we didn't exchange christmas gifts this year {we were just happy to be surrounded by friends and family} and we won't do birthday gifts, either.
life is more simple this way. we're taking less for granted and making the most of our time here. in a strange way,  we're living this crazy-poor-artistic lifestyle- doing what we must to get by, but pursuing our dreams non-stop and full-force.
it's kind of romantic.
and i kind of love it. a lot.
in fact, if we were only {only!} living in paris, i think we would be the quintessential starving artists. a scholar and an etsian.
 it's got a nice ring to it, no?

  4. "an etsian" sounds quite dazzling to me. i love this post, it says so much and i admire you and your husband for following your dreams. my S and i are similar in *some* ways. my recent job might seem -pft- to some but for me, it's what i love and where i'm happy and have so many bigger goals that it all makes sense in my head. my S is the same, finishing school in may, then starting school again in fall. happy to have you back angelina la dawn tomato! (god is it strange i HAVE to use your full title when i write your name? )

  9. i love you two. this post is just awesome. and i love that you and your husband don't do gifts. just so sweet. what i got my boyfriend for his birthday a few weeks ago was me -- i bought myself a plane ticket back east so i could spend the weekend with him. i'm so happy you've made the most of your time - that is, after all, what life is all about.

  17. I'm stopping in today from SITS (congrats on being the featured blogger!) and am so happy that I did. I love this bohemian lifestyle, it illustrates what truly is important in life. I think to celebrate and each other is the greatest gift. I admire your ability to follow your dream and am trying to follow this example in my life as well.

    Best wishes to you, I will follow! :)
