SUNmer woes

yesterday we spent 3 hours at the pool.
that's 3 hours in direct sun.
and the last thing a sixth-grade girl wants is her babysitter floating around her and her other friends. so needless to say, i spent most of the time on the sidelines, reading, and trying not to turn into a little sizzling piece of bacon.

my solution? buy a big, white, floppy sunhat with a black ribbon {to match my black, pointy-bra, ruched side, '50's esc bathing suit} and channel these images:
i'm not melting away, i'm fabulous...
 i'm not melting away, i'm fabulous...
 i'm not melting away, i'm fabulous...

 {and maybe a little zooey, too}

all i need is the umbrella! {and sand...and waves...and spray....and the right lighting...}

  2. Aren't 6th graders so inconvenient? Haha oh well. At least they prompted this neat batch of photographs! I bought a swimsuit last summer that makes me feel like Audrey Hepburn. :) It always helps to think of that when I'm FRYING in my driveway trying not to look like a white onion or something. Haha

  3. well if I had a bathing suit like any of those in the above pictures I think I'd be singing that same chant 'I'm not melting away, I'm fabulous!' love it! :)

  4. Ha... You should see my awesome sunburn from sunday. It's contained to the part in my hair, and a two inch swath of forehead and cheek not covered by my bangs. Dang straw hat got smooshed this winter. SO lame.

    I'm on the lookout for a new one... so we can always be hatted (not to be confused with hated) besties!

  9. Lots of sunscreen and definitely an umbrella. I found a cute one at Pier 1. Target has some too. I'd highly recommend it for days at the pool or in the park or on the beach...
