kitten!

i'm taking a cue from my friend over at the kitten mama and posting a video of cache.
i just grabbed the camera, so the music is a little loud:
cache, originally uploaded by angelinaladawn.

he's so adorable, but right now i'm stressed! we're doing everything by the book, but tonight aria ran out of her room and came face to face with cache and it was not good. so needless to say she threw a hissy fit and has been cranky all night.
we really think this is a good thing, so hopefully arie will calm down and figure that out too. soon.

(johnny) cache

for those of you who don't know already (probably most of you) today josh and i adopted a new kitten!
his name is cache, he's orange and white and 3 1/2 months old. i'll be (taking) posting photos soon!

we've been thinking about getting a second cat pretty much since we got arie, but since josh's family decided to get a second one (this week) it really spurred us into action.

arie is doing ok. we really want her to like cache so they can be a playmates (and keep each other company) so we're taking things pretty slow. they're in seperate rooms and although arie has hissed a couple times, she mostly seems interested and not threatened.

so now that we have a new kitty addition i have decided a few things:

1- mom/dad/sister-in-law- no more kitties for you! we are done, therefor i believe you must be done as well :)

2- grandma and mike- you must come visit soon because i know you would not want to miss meeting our new addition!

3- josh and i are awesome at adopting! and while we are done with kitties, i think that we should consider adopting other things in the (distant) future...

more updates to come. for now i'm going to sleep (in the living room) which cache.

we all need a little joy in our lives

one of my favorite bands just released a new album this week (which my hubby bought for me) and guess who is on it?
my little baby sisser, joy!
she plays cello and she's playing on seawolf's new album.
check them out! they've got a great sound and joy adds to it a lot (in my unbiased opinion)

she is beautiful and talented and you should also check out her regular band (who are also amazing)
midwest dilemma
although unsigned they are a huge local hit! and i think it's only a matter of time.
as someone before me said, this girl IS her namesake.

weekend

i had a great weekend! i didn't get to hang out with my parents much, but i spent a lot of quality time with my sister and sarah (the special music guest and a friend from high school). we laughed a lot and told stories about poking eyes and grinding teeth and funny crying stories (pretty much completely from me) it was a good time. anyway, on to the photos!
my mom and i outside of an adorable local shop (i want to live inside it)

one of the best parts of the weekend: i got my violin back! ahhh, it was so nice to play again.

joye and i also played a wedding too.
we're practicing outside:

the one family photo we managed to get.
everyone just happened to be together so i ran over and we struck a pose
.
good thing all our eyes were open because we only had time to get one:

my mom. she's cute:

banana phone.... doot do da do doot do
(sarah and joye)
i can't wait for the holidays! i love being together with friends and family. i miss you all!!

weekend plans

i'm going out of town tonight to help my mom with a women's retreat and play a wedding gig with my sister. i'm excited to see them and get a break from work! i'm leaving in about 15 minutes (josh has to make sure he fixed his bike correctly first) but i'll be back in a couple days with stories (maybe) and photos (for sure!)

aria!

who doesn't want to see a multitude of photos of arie?
she loves it here too, and she's made herself right at home.

helping fold laundry (or maybe trying to keep it warm for us):

sleeping on her own bed! (barely):

keeping the shape of my hat nice and concave:

helping josh read his homework:

working a puzzle:

helping unpack:

making herself comfy where we eat. thanks for that, arie:

guarding the kitchen with her bird's eye view atop the fridge:

cleaning the sink?

she says "i am not impressed":

helping me play guitar hero:

a job

i found an arts program that wants to hire me as a violin teacher! yay! the only (really big) problem is that they won't have a room for me to actually teach in for a few months. which really sucks. i'm very actively trying to find another job so i can quit target, but for now i'm kinda stuck there.

good thing i look good in red.

the bag

i've had this bag in my head for a few weeks and this weekend i finally got around to making it.
it's totally my favorite so far (of course i always say that)

button details. (they make me happy)
ps- it's real leather

the inside features: key clip with a long chord. zipper pocket. pen and cell phone pockets.
magnetic closure (sewn into the top)

i also crocheted a small coin purse.
i likey.

tuttle creek: take two

we went back. and this time there were more of us! (13 instead of just 6)
and we brought way more snacks

limestone all around the swimming area.
josh didn't swim so he took the pictures (and started climbing)

that's us. we were the only ones there (again) and it's amazing!
it feels like you're in the middle of no where.

practicing for ultimate frisby. that's right, the english g.a.'s formed an ultimate frisby team

sunset. gorgeous.

we love kansas!

tuttle creek

yesterday josh and i went with some friends (from josh's program) out to the tuttle creek area for some swimming and grilling. it was a beautiful evening for it and the water felt great.

we were practically the only ones there. that's one thing we're loving about manhattan- drive a couple minutes in any direction and you're alone in a wide open space.

i didn't get any photos of the swimming, but here are some others.

sunset.

after grilling we made a camp fire and roasted marshmallows.

with relatively no light pollution we could see all the stars and watched the harvest moon rise. we also caught a glimpse of fireworks from the ksu stadium after the first football game of the season (which we obviously skipped)
