weekend update

i got a (better) job ! i'll be working with an 11-year-old boy diagnosed with autism. i talked to his mom for a couple hours and it all seems like a great fit! needless to say i am extremely excited.

and it gets better- this could lead to more ABA jobs, and i have a couple leads for violin teaching. i'll still be working at target, but i'll be cutting back my hours. thanks for all your thoughts and prayers! things are looking very up on the job front.

so, the rest of the weekend was also amazing. we went to a wine and cheese party at a friends house, and the weather was gorgeous. the only disappointing part was that i had to work all day sunday, so we weren't able to visit a new church this week. i also did a lot of work around the apartment hanging stuff up and got busy crafting. wanna see?

beginnings of my new amigurumi doll (not very far along yet):
painting of my sister and i, for my mom (which i can post because my mom doesn't read my blog)

similar painting of josh and i for our apartment (location to be determined)

good news?

i started my new job at target tonight, which was...well it was boring. but it's a job. which i am still thankful for. i am thankful for this job. i am thankful for this job (i'm going to keep telling myself that)

but

the good news is that i got a call about a possible ABA job! yay! i'll hopefully be meeting with the family this week. the only bad part is that i'd probably have to totally change my schedule around with target, and they were pretty clear that they don't like it wihen new employees (i mean "team members") do that. oh well. i'm sure it will all work out. eventually.

. . . i miss parker.

and the city goes crazy!

a seriously stressful day today, but we're making it through (although josh's day is much more stressful than mine has been)

you can tell it's the first day of class and all the students are back. it is frantic here! it's nuts! everywhere! the bank! the stores! the street! the campus! the students!

we almost got hit by a truck trying to blow through a light. good thing i was watching. thank goodness the first day of class only happens once a year...

church visit #1

today i'm beginning the chronicle of josh and i looking for a church home. we started at:
the well
live learn love

the well meets in the historic wareham theater in beautiful downtown manhattan. it's a fairly new church that only started in february but there were approx 150 people there today, the vast majority being college-age students. they had coffee and donuts before and after service, a prayer wall, and joy boxes (woo hoo!). there seems to be a focus on service (which we love) and they have several different small groups which i'm definitely considering joining.

we loved the informal atmosphere and the worship band was great. very tight. plus they had a violinist and lots of good harmony, two things which i think no band should be without! the sermon was about comsuming love and started a new 3 week series. we probably won't hear the rest because we have a (small) list of church's we'd like to visit over the next few weeks, but i think we both left feeling like it was a good fit. they didn't make assumptions about everyone in the congregation and didn't seem to be pushing us to be "cookie cutter christians" (as i like to call them) i was very encouraged. plus i got to write a love letter to god, which will be sent back to me in the mail later. that was interesting. in a good way.

i'm not sure exactly what we're looking for in a church, but i think we'll know it when we find it.

prom?

last night was our first kansas party (and the first time i've been out of the house for most of the week) one of the professors at k state has the ga's and other professors over to their house for some mingling. josh got to meet several of his professors and i met a lot of the other students he's working with. after that we went over to someone's house and played games and sat around talking. it was great! it was nice to finally met some people here!

i was really excited to go, so i kept changing my clothes and asking josh what looked best ect. and then right before we left i was like, "wait! we need to take some pictures!!" to which josh said "angie, it's not like we're going to prom".
so fine, maybe i was a little over excited for a night of standing around and talking, but i'm getting seriously bored here!
now i will leave you with the one picture we took before leaving for the prom. i mean party.

the dusty bookshelf finds a home

it's gorgeous today! 77 and the windows are all open. my allergies haven't been a problem at all (yet) which is a huge blessing.
so, the dusty bookshelf is a local used book store in aggieville with lots of character and i envision myself spending many hours there. tons of bookshelves, books stacked on the floor and in any open space, as well as unique cards and comfy reading chairs. here's a little sample:
can you find the cat?

so since we don't have our book shelves yet we have taken a cue from our new favorite book store and created our own stacks of books. i think it works. for now at least.

can you find the cat?
here's another shot of our living room:
i'll keep adding more pictures of our apartment little by little. you can already tell we're all unpacked, but not totally settled it yet. i've still got stacks of picture frames and other things to be hung on the walls just sitting and waiting! the only things we have hung up so far are the four paintings here and the smaller paintings in the bathroom. it feels more like home every day. (and arie loves it here!)

goodbyes and pictures

well, our goodbyes are all over and we are all alone in kansas! matt and sarah left monday morning and i have been busy keeping myself busy since then. lots of unpacking and getting to know the city. and oh yeah, getting a job! it's not terribly exciting, i'll be working at target, but it is a job and i am very thankful for that.

since i'm trying to keep a good blog i'm posting pictures today! yay!

the old field house on campus at ksu. it's beautiful. i'll have to add more pics from inside later because it's really very cool.

this is a picture of the library. but only one side. it's huge!

josh looking out on his new campus. this is also from the side of the library.

i had to include this picture from my goodbye party at work. it was a lot of fun! but i cried for hours when i had to leave and say my real goodbyes.

so, i hope you've enjoyed the pictures! i will be posting more this week, and try to get some good shots of the apartment so everyone can see that as well.
love

update?

I'm trying to keep this blog updated. right now since our lives are centered around moving, it's all about moving. unfortunately i'm not at my own computer so i can't upload any images right now, but for those of you who are interested this website with good pictures of k state's campus, which is beautiful!

i'm still in michigan right now, just working a few more days and i'll be heading back down on thursday with matt and sarah, who are going to spend a couple days with us in manhattan. i'm so excited to get home! but it is going to be really hard to say my final goodbye's this week.

so for now, that's all.

kansas!

well we did it. we're here. and tomorrow we're leaving, but that's a different story. and if you want to know how i'm feeling about the whole thing i can't tell you because i hardly understand it myself. there are so many emotions right now. i feel like we haven't really moved and i figure this is either because it hasn't hit me yet, or that this decision to move is such a good fit that everything already feelsright. (i think it's a combination of both...)

tired. going to hang out with my hubby. maybe some pics and other thoughts tomorrow.
